On Tuesday, October 23, 2007, Deputy Secretary of State John Negroponte and Mongolian Foreign Minister Nyamaa Enkhbold signed a bilateral Proliferation Security Initiative (PSI) shipboarding agreement. This is the eighth such agreement signed by the United States. This agreement is an important indication of Mongolia's commitment to combating trafficking in items contributing to proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and its readiness to ensure that the growing number of commercial vessels flying its flag are not abused by proliferators. -- Media Note, October 23, 2007
