Under Secretary Sheeran: Travel to Moscow for G-8 Sous-Sherpa Meetings

Under Secretary of State for Economic, Business and Agricultural Affairs Josette Sheeran visited Moscow, Russia, May 4-5, for preparatory discussions with her G-8 counterparts in advance of the G-8 Summit in St. Petersburg, Russia, July 15-17.

Russia holds the rotating chairmanship of the G-8 this year, and has chosen to focus on energy security, education and infectious diseases as major themes.

"The issues that Russia has chosen for the G-8 Summit energy security, infectious diseases and education are all critically important," said Under Secretary Sheeran. "With this meeting we hope to create an agenda that will move these issues forward in a way that will benefit America and the world."
