John R. Dinger
Ambassador, Mongolia

Official Photo of  Ambassador John R. DingerJohn R. Dinger was sworn in as U.S. Ambassador to Mongolia on October 19, 2000. He was nominated by President Clinton on February 9, 2000 and confirmed by the U.S. Senate on June 9, 2000.

Ambassador Dinger is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, Class of Counselor. He has been minister counselor and consul general in the American Embassy in Tokyo since September 1998. Earlier, Ambassador. Dinger was director of the State Department's Office of Press Relations and deputy director of the Office of Japanese Affairs. He has served in Johannesburg, Sapporo, Tokyo, Fukuoka, Rio de Janeiro and London.
