BIOGRAPHY

J. Curtis Struble
Acting Assistant Secretary, 
Term of Appointment: 11/22/2002 to present

Curtis J. Struble assumed the position of Acting Assistant Secretary for Western Hemisphere Affairs on November 22, 2002. He has been Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Bureau since July 2002.

From June 2001 until July 2002, Mr. Struble was the Deputy Assistant Secretary in the State Departmentís Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs charged with providing broad policy oversight of U.S. relations with South America (the Andean Region and Brazil and the Southern Cone). He also coordinated economic and trade issues involving the Western Hemisphere. Mr. Struble is a member of the Senior Foreign Service with the rank of Minister Counselor. He has served at U.S. Embassies in Ecuador, Thailand, Honduras, Spain, Russia and Mexico.
