2005 U.S. National Commission for UNESCO Annual Conference

On June 6 and June 7, the U.S. National Commission for UNESCO held its first annual conference in 20 years. The meetings, which took place at Georgetown University, included a plenary address by Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings, as well as speeches and panel discussions by a number of government officials. Mrs. Laura Bush, who serves as the honorary ambassador for the UN Decade of Literary, hosted the commissioners at a White House reception, and commissioners were also hosted for a dinner at the State Department.
