World Monuments Fund

The World Monuments Fund (WMF), an international organization headquartered in New York City, is the foremost private, non-profit organization devoted to onsite conservation of monuments and sites worldwide. WMFs mission is realized via an array of programs that provide comprehensive training for new generations of conservationists and preservationists everywhere. Since 1965, through both private and public support, WMF has achieved unmatched success in projects in more than eighty countries through conservation initiatives that include project planning, field surveys, fieldwork, on-site training in building crafts, advocacy, and the development of long-term strategies for site maintenance and protection. WMF facilitates an array of regional and global programs, notably the World Monuments Watch, a list of 100 endangered sites in urgent need of intervention. Every two years a new list is compiled by a panel of experts in order to focus international attention on the worlds most imperiled heritage.
