World Press Freedom Committee

World Press Freedom Committee (WPFC) was established in 1976 to monitor and oppose new world information and communication order (NWICO) issues in UNESCO. Since that time, WPFC has been at the forefront of monitoring intergovernmental organizations to prevent their approving global restrictions on the press. WPFC monitors among other organizations UN, UNESCO, OSCE and the Committee for Europe. WPFC exists to ensure that free press values are provided for in the evolution of the Internet and cyberspace. It coordinates a united front among leading press freedom organizations to better meet threats that develop.
