Karyn McLaughlin Frist

An active volunteer in a broad range of health, welfare and arts organizations, Karyn Frist has been involved with the National Race for the Cure and has served as Honorary Chairman of the race in Nashville, Memphis, and Knoxville. Karyn is a member of the National Alliance of Mental Illness, Childhelp, USA, the Board of the Childrenís Inn at the National Institutes of Health, the Honorary Board of Governors to the Volunteer State Excellence in Public Service, and FOCUS (Fellowship of Christians in Universities and Schools). She has been an advocate for the arts by serving on the board of the Nashville Ballet, Meridian International Center Board, Ford Theater Board of Trustees, the Congressional Board of the National Museum of Women in the Arts, and the Frist Center for Visual Arts Board of Directors.

Karyn earned a bachelorís degree in education from Texas Christian University in Ft. Worth, Texas. She taught physically and mentally disabled children in the public schools in Dallas, Texas.

Karyn is married to Bill Frist, United States Senate Majority Leader and they have three sons. The family splits its time between Nashville, TN, and Washington, DC. Karyn is a private pilot.
