Robert C. Wilburn

Bob Wilburn is president/CEO of the Gettysburg National Battlefield Museum Foundation. He also serves on the boards of Harsco Corporation, Erie Insurance Group and Saint Vincent College. Previously, he was president/CEO of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and the Carnegie Institute/Carnegie Library, and president of Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Bob also served as Secretary of Education and Secretary of Budget and Administration for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. An economist by training, he was vice president and director of the financial planning group at Chase Manhattan Bank. He also served as a policy analyst at the U.S. Department of Defense and in the White House. Currently, Bob chairs the Dick Thornburgh Archival Collection Advisory Committee at the University of Pittsburgh and is former Chairman of the U.S. Committee of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS). While at the Carnegie Institute, he was voted Pittsburgh’s 1992 Man of the Year and 1989 Man of the Year for the Arts. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in economics and engineering from the U.S. Air Force Academy and his Master’s and Ph.D. in economics and public affairs from Princeton University.

He and his wife live in Washington, D.C. and Blairsville, Pennsylvania.
