Josiah Bunting

Josiah Bunting III serves currently as Chairman of the National Civic Literacy Board of the Intercollegiate Studies Institute, in Wilmington, Delaware. He serves collaterally as President of The Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation, in New York City. He was educated at the Virginia Military Institute, Oxford University as a Rhodes scholar, and Columbia University, where he was a John Burgess Fellow. He is the author of five books, most recently a biography of Ulysses S. Grant for the American Presidents Series edited by Arthur Schlesinger. Mr. Bunting served his country as an infantry officer in Vietnam and was for eight years superintendent (president) of the Virginia Military Institute. He and his wife make their home in Newport, Rhode Island.
