Nigel M. de S. Cameron

Nigel M. de S. Cameron, Ph.D., is President of the Institute on Biotechnology and the Human Future at Chicago-Kent College of Law in the Illinois Institute of Technology where he is Research Professor of Bioethics and an Associate Dean; he also directs the IIT Center on Nanotechnology and Society. Dr. Cameron leads a diverse group of policy experts, academics, and civil society leaders with a shared focus on the human dimension of emerging technologies and their broad social impact. He founded the journal Ethics and Medicine in 1983, and he has written and edited a dozen volumes on bioethics. He has given congressional testimony on ethical and policy aspects of stem cell research and cloning, testified before the European Parliament and the European Commissionís ethics advisory group, and served as bioethics advisor on US delegations to United Nations General Assembly and UNESCO meetings. He studied at Cambridge and Edinburgh universities and the Edinburgh Business School.
