Statement on Terrorist Bombing on U.S. Embassy Sana'a

Rosemary DiCarlo, U.S. Alternate Representative for Special Political Affairs
Remarks to the media following a Security Council Stakeout
New York City
September 17, 2008

USUN PRESS RELEASE #238

(As delivered)

Thank you. Just a couple of comments.

The United States strongly condemns the attacks against our embassy in Sana’a today. We offer condolences to the families of the victims. We are very pleased to see that the Security Council acted so quickly in condemning these attacks and in reiterating their determination to combat all forms of terrorism.

We are still compiling information on what has happened; I refer you to Washington for information on that. I just want to point out, however, that we are getting excellent cooperation from the Yemeni government in dealing with this issue and providing additional security.

Thank you.
