Assistant Secretary Noriega at Seeds of Hope Specialized Attention Center

Assistant Secretary Noriega and delegation met with former child combatants at the Semillas de Esperanza ("Seeds of Hope") Specialized Attention Center in Bogotá, Colombia. The center, which receives assistance from the U.S. Government, provides counseling, education, room and board, health services, jobs skills training, and, when possible, promotes family reunification among the thousands of Colombian youths drawn into the country's armed conflict. To date, some 1,690 children have been assisted through this program. State Deptartment photo
