Photo: Embassy Donates Inspection and Detection Equipment to Kosovo Customs Service and Border Police
Ambassador Tina Kaidanow handed over inspection and detection equipment, including two static X-ray’s and a mobile X-ray van, to the Republic of Kosovo’s Customs Service and Border Police. Minister of Finance and Economy, Ahmet Shala and Minister of Internal Affairs, Zenun Pajaziti received the keys to the X-ray van and observed demonstrations of how the equipment is used to detect smuggled items by measuring density and taking X-rays. This equipment, along with trainings for Customs and Border Police officers, is valued at over one million U.S. dollars. By providing increased capacity to counter the threat posed by the flow of weapons of mass destruction and related materials and technologies across international borders, the equipment enhances Kosovo’s ability to keep its borders safe and secure. The donation was made possible by the Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation, Office of Export Control Cooperation of the U.S. Department of State.
