Members of the Executive Committee traveled to Kabul, Afghanistan October 15-19, 2008. The purpose of the assessment visit was to (1) follow up on the training program provided to Afghan prosecutors in June 2008 at the University of Utah’s S.J. Quinney College of Law; (2) explore opportunities to support Afghan defense attorneys and professional legal organizations; (3) lay the groundwork for the January 2009 Afghan women lawyers training and leadership program in California and Washington, DC; and (4) identify Afghan candidates to pursue tuition-free Master of Laws (LL.M.) degrees in the United States.
