Meeting with Delegation of African Women in Business

Office of International Women's Issues
October 25, 2006

Ambassador Steven E. Steiner, Acting Senior Coordinator, met with leading business women from eight African nations participating in a State Department-sponsored International Visitor Leadership Program on October 25 to discuss problems facing female entrepreneurs in the region. They stressed the need for skills training and greater access to credit for women in the region, issues with which G/IWI will try to assist them. This office will also link the women to organizations that may be able to help them sell their crafts in U.S.-based stores.
