Saluting Hispanic Heritage History Month: Maria ZambranoMaria Gabriela Zambrano is a Foreign Service Officer working in the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs’ Office of the Coordinator of Cuban Affairs. 

Ms. Zambrano earned a Bachelor of Arts in Intercultural and OrganizationalCommunicationfrom Florida Atlantic University in 2004. 
Her previous position at the Department of State was as a Special Assistant for the Commission for Assistance to a Free Cuba and, before that, as an intern at the Office of the Coordinator of Cuban Affairs. She has also worked in the Office of Russian Affairs as a Bilateral Affairs Officer. 

Gabriela has also served on the Hurricane Task Force and as a Passport Adjudicator in New Orleans for two months in the summer of 2007. She contributed an article on Demonstrating Solidarity with the Cuban People for the U.S. Department of State official Blog. Gabriela is the daughter of Ecuadorian immigrants and speaks fluent Spanish.
