Musician Shehzad Roy, one of Pakistans top pop stars. The U.S. Consulate in Karachi paid tribute to the memory of Daniel Pearl on Saturday, October 25 by offering a concert to an invited audience of 150 journalists, artists and community leaders. This program was coordinated with the efforts of the Daniel Pearl Foundation to mark what would have been Pearl's 40th birthday around the world. In his opening remarks to welcome the guests, Consul General Douglas Rohn noted Pearl's musicianship and the special importance that this program held since Pearl was kidnapped and murdered in the City of Karachi. Musician Shehzad Roy, one of Pakistan's top pop stars, entertained the crowd with his group's own style of South Asian rock fused with jazz and other current musical trends.
