Pakistan's Support for the Taliban (Taken Question)

Question: Does the US have any knowledge that Pakistan is funding, financially or militarily, the Taliban?

Answer: Pakistan is one of only three countries that have recognized the Taliban. UN Security Council Resolution 1333 outlines sanctions against the Taliban leadership, and Pakistan, despite its recognition of the Taliban, has declared its willingness to implement the sanctions. We accept Pakistanís stated willingness to implement these sanctions.

As our annual "Patterns of Global Terrorism" report states, the US remains concerned about reports of continued Pakistani support for the Talibanís military operations in Afghanistan.
