Connecticut Passport Agency Moves to New Location

The U.S. Department of State’s Connecticut Passport Agency has moved and upgraded its passport issuance system. Formerly located in Stamford, the Agency opened for business at 50 West Washington Street in South Norwalk on Monday, September 24.

The new Connecticut Passport Agency began issuing passports using the latest issuance system, called "TDIS-Photodigitization," which allows the processing of a technologically advanced travel document. The relocation to South Norwalk was based on increased space needs for the new issuance equipment.

Photodigidized passports have many added security features, the most notable is the passport bearer’s photograph, or portrait, which is printed as a digital image directly on the data page of the passport. This new technology is a strong deterrent to photo-substitution. It is one way the Department of State is working to prevent passport fraud.

Travelers with confirmed international departure dates, or who need their passports for foreign visas, within 14 days may make an appointment at the Passport Agency in Connecticut. The new automated appointment number is (203) 299-5443. This number is available 24 hours to make appointments during regular business hours. General passport information, directions, and parking information are also provided.

Those customers traveling in more than 14 days may apply at one of over 160 designated passport application acceptance facilities throughout the Agency’s region of the State of Connecticut and Westchester County, New York. Please consult our award-winning website at travel.state.gov for the most convenient location and a wealth of other passport and international travel information.
