The Taliban's War Against Women

The State Department will release tomorrow, November 17, a report, "The Taliban’s War Against Women," on its website www.state.gov. The report outlines the rights women had in Afghanistan prior to the Taliban’s take-over and highlights the abuses the Taliban have since inflicted upon the Afghan women.

The Department of State report is part of our efforts to draw the world’s attention to the Taliban regime’s history of oppressing women and children and other human rights abuses.

Laura Bush will discuss the report in her radio address Saturday morning at 10:06 a.m. EST, and the report will be available on the Department of State website at approximately 10:15 a.m. EST.

Released on November 16, 2001
