Secretary of State Colin L. Powell To Be Honored by the American Academy of Diplomacy - December 11

Secretary of State Colin L. Powell will be honored by the American Academy of Diplomacy as a recipient of the “Walter and Leonore Annenberg Award for Excellence in Diplomacy.” The awards ceremony will take place Wednesday, December 11, 2002 at 12:45 p.m. in the Benjamin Franklin Room at the U.S. Department of State.

This event is open for press coverage. Recipients will deliver remarks, but will not be responding to questions.

Pre-set time for cameras: 11:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Final access time for all press: 12:30 p.m.
Press will use the 23rd Street entrance, between C & D Streets NW

Journalists may cover this event upon presentation of either (1) a US Government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense, or Foreign Press Center), (2) a photo ID issued by the employing media organization, or (3) a letter on official letterhead from their news organization verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo ID (driver’s license or passport).
