Meeting With Syria's Foreign Affairs Office Spokesperson (Taken Question)

Question:  Has anyone in the State Department met with the spokesperson for the Foreign Affairs Office in Syria?

Answer:  Deputy Assistant Secretary of Near Eastern Affairs, David Satterfield, met with Syria’s Foreign Affairs Office Spokesperson, Butheina Sha'aban, during her recent visit to Washington.  The meeting focused on bilateral and regional issues, including U.S. concerns -- which have been conveyed in Damascus as well -- regarding aspects of Syrian policy and actions.
