Detention of Yu Jie and Liu Xiaobo (Taken Question)

Question:   What is the State Departmentís reaction to treatment of dissident writers Yu Jie and Liu Xiaobo?

Answer:   We are aware of the reports that Yu Jie and Liu Xiaobo have been detained by Chinese authorities and will follow their cases closely. As we have said before, we urge the Chinese government to release all of those imprisoned for the peaceful expression of their religious and political views.
