Dayton Anniversary Signing Ceremony

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Mladen Ivanic, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, today signed two documents as part of series of events marking the tenth anniversary of the Dayton Agreement.

Agreement between the United States of America and Bosnia and Herzegovina on Status Protections and Access to and Use of Facilities and Areas in Bosnia and Herzegovina

This agreement enhances defense cooperation between the two countries. Under the agreement, Bosnia and Herzegovina shall provide to the U.S. access to and use of facilities in order to support such cooperation. The agreement also frames the legal status of U.S. military and Department of Defense civilian personnel while temporarily present in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Open Skies Civil Aviation Agreement between the United States of America and Bosnia and Herzegovina

This agreement will significantly modernize bilateral civil aviation relations by allowing airlines from the two countries to make commercial decisions with minimal government intervention. It will provide for open routes, capacity, frequencies, designations, and pricing, as well as cooperative marketing arrangements, including code-sharing.
