Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Nicholas Burns is leading a U.S. government delegation to Port-au-Prince, Haiti on December 20, 2005. During this one-day visit, he will meet with leaders of Haiti's interim government, as well as representatives of civil society, the business community, and the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH). This visit underscores the United States’ support for timely democratic elections in Haiti in January and solidarity with Haiti's continuing process of political transition and economic reform.
