Question Taken at May 16, 2006 Daily Press Briefing

Russia: G-8 Agenda

Question: Is the Iran nuclear program on the formal agenda of the G-8 Summit in St. Petersburg.

Answer: Russia, as the host country, has selected three primary topics for the Summit. They are Education, Energy Security and Infectious diseases. Leaders will discuss a range of other issues of common concern, including how to strengthen our efforts to combat terrorism, support the global trading system, target corruption, and improve coordination in responding to crises outside G-8 borders. We would expect that discussion of Iran will also come up at the Summit.
