Under Secretary Burnsís Travel to Colombia

Under Secretary for Political Affairs Nicholas Burns, accompanied by senior officials from the Department of State, Department of Justice, U.S. Agency for International Development, Office of the Secretary of Defense, and Office of National Drug Control Policy will travel to Colombia October 24-26, 2006. Under Secretary Burns will meet with Colombian President Alvaro Uribe and other senior government officials, as well as Colombian human rights groups and civil society leaders.

The trip to Colombia highlights the close relationship between our two nations and our ongoing commitment to help Colombia achieve lasting peace, security, and prosperity.
