Question Taken at the June 21, 2007 Daily Briefing

North Korea - Nuclear Equipment (Taken Question)

Question: Is the U.S. offering to buy nuclear equipment from North Korea?

Answer: Assistant Secretary Christopher Hill will be discussing with his North Korean counterpart ways to move the Six-Party process forward, including the DPRK’s implementation of its commitments under the February 13 Initial Actions Agreement.

The next phase within the Six-Party process will cover the implementation of the rest of the goals laid out in the September 19 Joint Statement of Principles. These talks have not yet occurred, and we do not wish to speculate on their course.
