Palestinian and Moroccan Musicians to Perform at Kennedy Center Millennium Stage

The U.S. Department of State and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts will feature five emerging musicians from the West Bank and Morocco tonight at the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage as part of the 2007 Cultural Visitor Program. The performance will run from 6:00-7:00 p.m.

During the two week artistic and cultural exchange program, the musicians will meet with leading representatives of American jazz, cultural and academic institutions and conduct informational sessions, performances, jam sessions, and visits to schools and jazz music institutions. The artists are in Washington, D.C., November 6-14 and New York, November 14-20.

The Cultural Visitor Program is designed to give select performing artists from key regions professional development opportunities in the United States and improve cross-cultural understanding. The program is managed by John F. Kennedy Center under a cooperative agreement with the Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

This event is open to the press. For more information, please contact Catherine Stearns, 202-203-5107 or StearnsCL@state.gov
