Deputy Secretary Negroponte Travel to Colombia and Central America

Deputy Secretary of State John D. Negroponte will lead the United States delegation to the 38th regular session of the Organization of American States General Assembly in Medellín, Colombia, on June 1 and 2.

From June 3 to 6, the Deputy Secretary will also visit El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala. While there, the Deputy will meet with senior government officials and members of the private sector and civil society to discuss a range of bilateral and regional issues, to include the pending Merida Initiative, our commercial relations and the Central American Free Trade Agreement (DR-CAFTA), security concerns, and development cooperation.
