Security Council Elections

The United States congratulates Austria, Japan, Mexico, Turkey and Uganda on their election today to the UN Security Council for two-year terms that will begin on January 1, 2009. We look forward to working with all of these countries on the most pressing issues facing the Council, including Iran’s nuclear program, the situation in Darfur, and other matters related to international peace and security.
