U.S., Georgia Sign Charter on Strategic Partnership

At a ceremony at the Department of State, Secretary Rice signed the U.S.-Georgia Charter on Strategic Partnership with Georgian Foreign Minister Vashadze on January 9.

This document highlights the importance of our strategic partnership and outlines enhanced cooperation on defense, democracy, trade, energy, people-to-people contacts, and cultural exchanges. The Charter also represents a statement of our intent to support Georgia’s security and democratic reforms, which will strengthen our partnership and help Georgia fulfill NATO’s accession criteria.
