Dean Pittman

BIOGRAPHY

Dean Pittman joined the Policy Planning Staff in September 2007 and is responsible for Europe and environmental issues.  A career Foreign Service Officer since 1989, Mr. Pittman served from 2004-2007 as U.S. Consul General in Northern Ireland.   Pittman worked on governance issues in Baghdad for the Coalition Provisional Authority in Baghdad and has also served  in Bosnia, Mozambique and Guyana.   In Washington, Mr. Pittman served in various capacities in the Bureaus of East Asia and Pacific Affairs, Legislative Affairs, and the Office of the Deputy Secretary.  

Mr. Pittman received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Millsaps College and  received a Master’s in International Relations from Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies. He is originally from Tylertown, Mississippi.
