Remarks Following Meeting With Tunisian President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali

Secretary Colin L. Powell
Presidential Palace
Tunis, Tunisia
December 2, 2003

I just had a most excellent meeting with President Ben Ali. We covered a full range of issues: Iraq, Middle East, our bilateral relationship. Our bilateral relationship is very, very strong. Iím a great admirer of Tunisia and the progress that it has seen under President Ben Aliís leadership. It has the highest in literacy rates in the world, openness in the society to the participation of women.

Thank you. See you later.
