Haiti: Release of Father Gerard Jean Juste

Secretary Condoleezza Rice
Washington, DC
January 30, 2006

I welcome the news that Father Gerard Jean Juste has been released from prison and is now in the United States, getting the medical attention he needs.

I applaud the humanitarian decision reached by the Interim Government of Haiti to allow Father Jean Juste to seek appropriate medical attention. U.S. officials actively engaged the Interim Government in support of this decision.
